A customer sees the product on a doorstep. The company behind that delivery sees product data, inventory, price, payment, routing, fulfillment, tracking, returns, and the exceptions that tried to interrupt all of them.
The best integration work is nearly invisible. It does not call attention to the number of systems involved; it makes those systems behave like one company. Every handoff preserves identity, context, and ownership so that the customer promise survives the trip.
That is why channel growth is an operating question before it is a storefront question. A new marketplace or sales channel is easy to announce. The durable advantage is an operating core that can absorb the next door without creating another permanent version of the truth.
